I have almost always been opposed to rock stars and other performers getting involved in supporting political candidates etc.

However I think the humanitarian work Bono does is a fine example of how a star can get involved without pissing off fans. But if that happened they would assure that President Bush's legacy would be that of failure. Which is just what I think they've been hoping all along.

By leaving Iraq in it's current state, It would surely fall into civil war in a matter of months. Also the radical Muslim terrorists who we are fighting would declare a victory against the United States and would surely increase thier numbers. This is as plain as day. Anyone can see that pulling out of Iraq is NOT an option.

Also demoralizing our troops who are shedding thier blood in Iraq, Is just plain sabotage. I know Dean was very well aware that our troops heard him make that statement, about the war being unwinable. A New York City Hip-Hop radio stations morning show on Hot 97 F.M. played a song sung to the tune of we are the world, Mocking the victims of the Tsunami. I did here a portion of the so called parody, and not only were the lyrics in poor taste, but the singer obviously had no talent.

This is real funny huh? over 200,000 people are dead, children are being kidnapped and sold into slavery, hey I got a great idea let's make a funny song about it. Asian's are up in arms about this and have every right to be!

There was an apology issued and the d.j.'s said they would donate 1 weeks salary to recovery efforts. I wonder if the radio station or the F.C.C. will take any action? I mean hefty fines were issued for other inappropriate things which have taken place during broadcasts on radio and T.V. I work in a hospital and have made friends with several Medical residents from the Middle East, One of them is from Iraq. Today I asked him if he planned on submitting an absentee ballot, He told me no. He stated he did'nt feel there was anyone worth voting for. I had to laugh and explain to him that some U.S. citizens feel that way also. He then explained his reasoning which I will not publish here.

I told him he should take advantage of being able to vote without fear of retaliation by insurgents, I told him he had the safest oppertunity to vote of most Iraqi's. He stood by his plan not to vote. I only wonder if here is an Iraqi citizen, with the ability to cast his vote without the fear of a car bomb exploding while doing so, And he still chooses not to. How many will risk thier lives?

I have high hopes that the Iraqi election will be a success, both in voter turnout and in security. I guess even in a country where tyranny reigned for so many years people still have a reluctance to fulfil civic duties. I explained to my friend that the ability to freely elect your leaders is one of the benifits of being free, And living in a democratic nation. I hope he will change his mind.

D.S. How secret and effective would this unit be if even the fact that it existed was acknowleged? Here goes the press again sticking thier noses where they don't belong.

When it comes to the defense of our country, There are some things that should not be public knowledge. I can still remember sneaking my television on after my bedtime to tune in. Seems like so long ago, and I guess it was over 25yrs. to be exact. But that was the begining of my love affair with late night t.v.. Since then I've laughed at a myriad of late night hosts including David Letterman, Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, Conan O'brian, and Dennis Miller just to name a few. But none as great as Johnny Carson, Johnny was the king of late night and his way of taking a mistake during a show and making it a memorable moment has been unsurpassed. Johnny made me laugh for years and it is because of this I decided to write about him today.

Johnny Carson died yesterday of emphysema at the age of 79. And although he retired from the public eye years ago he will be truely missed. I saw a recent picture this afternoon of Johnny and did not recognize him he was bloated and overwieght probably from Prednisone, a cortico steriod given to some emphysema pt's. My thoughts and prayers are with the Carson family.

D.S. Bush take the oath of office for his second term. This was this nations 55th Presidential Inauguration and only the 16th time we have Inaugurated a president for a second term. It seems all went well protesters were not a problem and the weather maintained a brisk but tollerable mid 30's to 40's temp.

A standing ovation for the troops was a memorable part of the ceremony, As well as one of the most powerful inauguration speeches I've ever heard. The President seemed resolved to maintain and not backslide in his promise to the American people to protect our intrests both here and abroad.

An invocation was given at both the begining and end of the ceremony, Which I thought was wonderful. And when the President mentioned God in his speech he also mentioned some of the many religions that make up the fabric of this nation, not just Christianity.

I say congratulaions to The President and may god continue to bless him and our Nation.

D.S. He acted on the intelligence that was delivered to him. Both President Bush and British Prime Minster Tony Blair recieved very strong reports of weapons of mass destruction being made and housed in Iraq, Even though The U.N. weapons inspectors were unable to find them did not mean they did'nt exist.

After 9/11 The President and his cabinet took a bashing because they say they did not act on intelligence reports saying that Osama Bin Laden was planning a terror attack on the United States. Could you just imagine if there was WMD's in Iraq and The President did nothing about it. People would be screaming for his resignation. He was damned either way. I just wanted to post a little piece on this article. I can't believe a jury will convict Spec. Charles Graner Jr. Based on testomony of two terrorists who hate America so much they camed armed and ready to kill American troops before they were detained as enemy combatants to begin with. One actually had an Iraqi guard smuggle him a handgun into the prison. These are dangerous people who hate Americans, And will surely say anything if it means ruining ones life.

My question is do you think these guys would love Americans today if they had'nt been made to masturbate or been led around a prison on a dog chain? I think not. These detainees should only be glad they were'nt caputered by terrorists or instead of being forced to wear thier underwear on thier heads they may have had thier heads placed on thier backs, like the videos we've seen come from Al-Jazeers of Americans and other world citizens who were captured by the terrorists. It also states a third Iraqi civilian died from cardiac arrest at the scene.

This is truely an unfortunate event. We are there to liberate the Iraqi people and not to kill them, But the British author of this story made it sound as if our troops , The most well trained fighting force in the world are acting as loose cannons.

In almost every combat situation, there is whats known as collateral damage. As unfortunate as this is, it remains true. I feel just awful for these people who were killed accidentaly, as I'm sure the soldiers who were part of this mission are devistated. However I support these American fighting men who are doing an incredible job fighting a gutless enemy who looks like every civilian in Iraq.

My message to the Iraqi people, I am saddened by your losses, we are there to help and not to hurt. This is wrong, if they would read Mr. Gonzales story they would find out that he is a fine American, Who proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and came from a very poor imigrant family. He rose above being finacially disadvantaged and earned an Ivy League education.

In my opinion he is a role model for hispanics, and should be portrayed as such. The real problem with this nomination has nothing to do with Abu Ghraib or his stand on torture of enemy combatants, It has to do with the Dems. still crying about the re-election of our President. The liberals need to stop trying to sabotage everything that President Bush does. I understand the bi-partison bull crap that goes on in Washington, But like President Bush said "You're either with us, or you're against us." Come on Democrats you're still Americans, right?

After the election there were statements made that Bush should do some things to make the Democrats happy, well they hold public office and were elected there to do a job, and if they can't work for the good of this nation then they don't belong there. It's time to let go of the election and strive to again become one nation under god. We are at war with a very unforgiving enemy, and if we can not work together as a nation we can not defeat them.

D.S. An earthquake alomst 1000 miles away caused a tsunami with death and destruction like mankind has not seen in hundreds of years. An event which some sources say actually knocked the earth off it's axis, for a short time. And which (through satalite views from space) has changed the geography of many nations.

As the news media flooded my television screen with eyepoping images captured by amature video cameras. I could not believe my eyes, I worked as a paramedic during recovery operations at Ground Zero in 2001 and I still could not imagine exactly what these people were seeing first hand.

Depending on what news organization you get your reports from the death toll now is anywhere from 120,000 to 150,000. Both staggering numbers. And with disease and famine sure to follow, the possiblity of thousands more victims is very real.

Although there has been many stories of miracles taking place during this event, an elephant who rescued three children from a beach in Thialand, scuba divers who were underwater during the crash of the waves and lived to tell the tale. But most have been stries and images of horrible human suffering.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in this disaster. There are ways we can help through donations click here for a list of ways you can donate, provided by Fox news.

D.S. A year shadowed in turmoil across the world. The 2004 presidential election was at the forefront of the news most of the year and when the result was'nt favorable to the losers they developed what came to be known as P.E.S.T. post election stress trauma.

The war in Iraq took more brave american fighting men, Which to me is the top story of the year, and will continue to be a matter close to my heart until our last soldier steps out of that country. Afghanistan also was and continues to be a hot spot for our military claiming lives of soldiers including Pat Tillman, one of our true American heros.

The passing of a another great American President Ronald Reagan, stole the headlines and the hearts of the world. President Reagan will surely go down in history as one of the finest presidents of the 20th century.

Hurricanes Charley,Frances,Ivan and Jeane rocked Florida in what was one of the worst hurricane seasons in recent history.

Yasser Arafat dies , and crowds go wild in a display like none I've seen before at the Palestinian leaders funeral. Arafat's death leaves an uncertain future for the Palestinian people.

The Boston Red Sox defeat The New York Yankees in the World Series, And break a curse that was placed on Boston when Babe Ruth left the team decades ago.

Terrorism was rampant throughout the world with a school being captured in Russia, and bombings in Madrid Spain, Along with the roadside bombings happening on an almost daily basis in Iraq. There were also beheadings performed and then broadcast on websites.

And as we closed out the year last week a devistating tsunami hit Indonesia killing over 100,000 and it is yet to be seen how many more may still perish due to disease and famine.

I can only hope 2005 will bring some happier stories to write about. We can only wait and see.

D.S. The Boy Scouts of America. They have said that the Boy Scout oath is offensive because it mentions God. I can't understand why these people can't focus on the real issues and problems in the world, instead of what words are in the Boy Scout oath.

Listen if the oath of the Boy Scouts offends you, You need to do 1 of 2 things, either deal with it and only use out of it what applies to you or your beliefs, or don't join or let your children join the Boy Scouts. The Boy Scouts of America are a fine organization, which instills pride, respect, moral straightness and service to country and community. And maybe that is what scares the A.C.L.U. the fact that this group of fine young citicens give back to the community instead of drain on society.

D.S. An article at aol news shows a photo of recent homeland terrorist Mark Robert Walker smiling as he is escorted by law enforcement officials. Smiling? Why is he smiling? probably because he knows he has a good chance of beating the charges brought against him. This kid should be hung by his neck until dead. This is truly an act of treason against The United States of America! And it is spitting in the faces of the brave men and women of the U.S. Military who are so bravely serving this country in a time of war! What in the world has happened to this great nation? How have American youths been so misguided as to support terrorism? This kid actually thinks it's funny that he was willing to support enemies of the United States of America!

Now here's the really sick part, Some high priced attorney will defend this A**hole and because of MORAL issues this TERRORIST will most likely spend a few years behind bars and live to conspire against our government another day. Is'nt that lovely? Was'nt treason a HIGH crime in this country at one time?

Maybe I'm on a RANT here, something I try my best not to do, But COME ON! This kid is not only jepordizing our way of life but he is thumbing his nose at the brave men and women of our armed forces! I'm OUTRAGED! Maybe jusy maybe if we took these people and made an example out of them , we would'nt have this nonsense going on in our country.

I don't know for sure what the end result of this case will bring, But I can tell you this. The ACLU has accused the Military special forces of threatning agents who conducted the investigation of so called AGRESSIVE INTEROGATIONS of Iraqi prisoners in guantanamo. My first problem with this is, this is a war and the information acquired from these prisoners is vital to the defense of our nation. How we obtain that information is not mine, your business. CIA operatives and military special forces troops were trained how to best obtain this info and who are we or any other organization to say how they feel it should be handled? If these investigators were threatened, I don't believe the investigation is justified to begin with.

My second and final point is in Viet-Nam and previous wars, our troops suffered ungodly forms of torture while held in prison camps, I'm not saying this is right I'm just stating this is part of war. Right now in Iraq westerners are being kidnapped and held hostage only to be beheaded in the end. So if some Iraqi prisoner was made to stay awake for days on end and maybe been forced to be nude for awhile and then photographed I DON"T CARE o.k? Bottom line is our most cruel treatment of prisoners is mild compared to the way an american captured in Iraq would be treated. What a great way to get new recruits than to get your name involved in events where the fans are some of the most passionate fans in sports.

The U.S. Army sponsors the #1 car driven by Joe Nemachek and gets it's name mentioned every time Mr. Nemachek is part of the action, approxamately 20 times every sunday afternoon. Nascar has become the fastest growing sport in America, and I believe it is money well spent. The United States Marine Corps also sponsors a car in the Nascar Busch series driven by Bobby Hamilton jr. who drove the Marines car to a 2003 Busch series championsip.

The fans at these events are very passionate about the sport, and if they are just as passionate about their service in the military these are just the kind of recruits we need to keep our nation strong.

D.S. I'm sure this is the case in many schools accross America. Students will not be taught of the pilgrims faith in god and thier fight for the relief of religious persecution, The main reason they came to America to begin with. Instead these children will get a secular version of the story.

Have we taken the seperation of church and state too far? I believe we have. When we have to short cut and edit history as to not offend any one, we certainly have gone too far.

These students need to learn that the pilgrims came to the new world to escape religious persecution, and have the freedom to worship god, and praise him certainly this is an important part of the story. How will it mold and shape our future generation if they believe the first thanksgiving was based on the pilgrims love for food? For a school district to say "you can thank anyone you wish, as long as it's not god", is religious persecution at it's finest. Would'nt the pilgrims be proud?

D.S. He has tried to pass the buck to Fox news, and even Osama Bin Ladden.

Isn't it possible that the American people just voted for the most capable candidate? I mean in reality John Kerry never revealed any of his so called plans. There was plenty of monday morning quarterbacking, but I could have done that. Does that qualify me to be president? I think not.

In my opinion Kerry has no one to blame for his loss other than himself. And the people who he choose to surround himself with, including vice-presidential candidate John Edwards, Micahael Moore (who probably did his campaign more harm than good). And of course the Hollywood connections.

Senator Kerry recieved the second most votes of any presidential candidate in the history of our great nation. He should be happy and capitalize on that, in an effort to reunite our country. Instead he continues to try to blame every body else for his mistakes. Mr. kerry accept your role in the defeat, Learn from the experience, and Move on. There are many very important issues facing the country and Senator Kerry plays a very crucial role in deciding the outcome of these issues. Again this all boils down to being responible for your own actions. Something the liberal left has a hard time doing.

D.S. I'm pretty sure the media has been too quick to criticize this action. First of all, Urban warfare is the most dangerous type of combat a soldier will ever see. And when you're fighting against an enemy who uses guerilla tactics on a regular basis, this action may have been 100% justified.

Second, and possibly most importantly. None of us were actually there when this incident took place. There is a number of possible scenarios as to why this soldier decided to take this action, and for any of us to call this act a war crime, until all the evidence is in is poor judgement on our part.

Our troops are trained to make decisions during combat, that are not easy ones to make. However, they are nessecary to reduce the number of casulaties of our servicemen. After all this action may have saved the lives of many troops engaged in this operation. We do not know right now, So let's wait to pass judgement. War has never been pretty folks, But with reporters now embedded with military units, the public gets a graphic view of the harsh realities of war. When the media exploits these events, it creates more animosity between the U.S. and it's allies and enemies alike.

D.S. Today it seems a good portion of Americans want to close thier eyes to the attacks of September 11, 2001. The Kerry campaign said that the republicans ran a campaign of FEAR. I myself believe they should have used more 9/11 images in thier ads.

A campaign of fear. Now lets think about that for a moment. 19 terrorists with acouple hundered dollars, killed over 3000 Americans. Fear? We should all be affraid. These terrorists are the same people who are brutally beheading citizens of the world on an almost weekly basis. Liberals WAKE-UP! These people do not understand anything but violence.

I've heard several liberals state that we should pull our troops out of Iraq and Afganistan in an effort to make peace. I guess they loved us when they flew airplanes into The World Trade Center and The Pentagon, and possibly another landmark.(had it not been for the bravery of the passengers on the third flight.)

Less than 4 years have gone by since the attacks in New York and Washington D.C. and it seems as though it no longer matters to some Americans. This shiek reportedly went on to say that many Muslims have died because we've treated Bin Laden like a "thug" or a "gangster", and we've showed him no respect. Respect? Come on this is coming from a shiek, in a country where 14 of the 19 terrorists involved in the 9/11 attacks hailed from.

My question is, How much of an ally is Saudi Arabia and just how many terrorists are they harboring? I also know Bin Laden and his family are from Saudi Arabia. NowI'm certainly not suggesting that we turn our focus and military towards Saudi Arabia, But perhaps the Saudi government needs to take a good look at whats going on and the messages being sent out from within their borders.

Bin Laden is just what the shiek stated, a Thug,Gangster, murder, terrorist, it's all the same. And for him to expect any red blooded american to respect him, he'd better think again. It has been because of people such as this shiek that we have been unsuccessful in capturing this cave dweller. With all the money and resources these rich sympathizers have at their disposal they've been able to effectivley keep Bin Laden just out of our reach. But eventually they will make a mistake and our military will be there to capture Bin Laden and those who attemted to extend his reign of terror.

D.S. I myself did not see the first film, as it is against my principles to support TERRORISM through the media.

After the recent election both candidates agreed that it is now time for Americans to come together as a country. Liberals are sure to rally around this film and find even more nonsense to complain about.
When they should be taking the back of our troops and thier commander in chief.

Well it's my opinion if Michael is so disturbed by the actions of President George W. Bush he should leave the United States, and take his films with him. Thats whats so nice about America, Your freedom of choice Mr. Moore, If you are not happy here You are free to LEAVE! Treason was once an offense that all Americans were apalled by, Today we make the offender a millionaire.

Mr. Moore "the tribe has spoken". The American people have overwhelmingly decided that George W. Bush will be our President for four more years. They've decided that he is the person most qualified to lead our country . So GET OVER IT!

D.S. In my opinion celebrity endorsement of a candidate will surely not sway my vote in the direction of the person they are endorsing, as a matter of fact it may even do the opposite.

A friend of mine, last summer went to see Jackson Browne live at our local concert arena. During the show Mr. Browne spent approx. 20 min. Letting the crowd know his opinion on the war in Iraq. When I asked my friend "how was the show?" He said if he had known the artist was going to take $23.00 from him to hear his political opinions he never would have gone. I am a huge fan of Jackson Brownes music, but I don't agree with his liberal views on world affairs.

I am also a huge Bruce Springsteen fan, However seeing him pimp himself on stage for the Kerry campaign this year, made me almost sick to my stomach! As far as Eminem is concerned he does'nt even count. The simple fact that young missinformed voters may have been sent to the polls with a one sided view of the issues is a terrifying thing begin with. Let's face it if the information you're using to decide who is best qualified to run our country comes from Mtv, I'm not sure you should vote.

Please let it be known I'm not saying all young voters are misinformed, My point is Mtv should not be where our voting public recieves all the information on the issues. And finally Actors, Rockstars, and Supermodels, should stick to what they do best....Entertaining!

D.S. This is a time for all Americans to thank the brave men and women who have served in our nations military, for protecting our way of life. It is also time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the rights and liberties we so often take for granted.

With our nation engaged in this ongoing war against terror,It is important that we take the time today to focus on supporting our troops who are defending our borders from those who wish to harm us. Remember, they are fighting a war there so we don't have to fight it here!

So with that in mind I would like to take this oppertunity to thank all veterans for serving our country with dignity and honor, And for protecting and defending this great nation. We as Americans owe you all a huge debt of gratitude. For all those serving in Iraq and Afganistan, Thank-You and remember we are behind you and the very difficult task you have undertaken. May god bless you and bring you home safely.

D.S.
